Happy Birthday

It is not very often you get the opportunity to make a card for
someone who is coming up to 100.
But this is the pleasurable task that I was set this week.

I started with a cream card base used the
Sizzix Scalloped border die thinking that I was cutting out
the pattern only to find it had cut the card base.
Not that that really mattered
A piece of pink card soon filled up the space and I cut
the left over piece of cream card with the plain scallop border
and popped it over the pink edge.
Another piece of pink card with the plain scallop border
probably finished the base card better than my first idea.
I cut out SW Frames and tags Maggie
{Well I had to buy Maggie }
in pink and cream.
The larger flowers which are white and cream, the camera
has not picked them up very well, have been in my stash for years.
The rose buds were made with Sizzix cinch and go flowers.
The ivy was scraps of white card sponged with
DI Mowed Lawn, Crushed Olive and
Memento Cottage Ivy.
The one sprig off silver ivy and the numbers look tarnished
but here again it is the camera's fault.

Have a great day.

A spring birthday card

I have just been trying to compute my brain from
Eastern standard time to Greenwich mean time
but alas my brain is not computing as well as it should.
Trying to work out what time I needed to schedule this post to go live.
I blame it all on this heatwave we are having here in
Tassie we are not used to this heat and certainly not the humidity.
The hottest November for 150 years!

Anyway on to my DT card for the December
What a love selection of cards there were in the November challenge.
I have had a great time visiting and finding new blogs along the way.

I pulled out a punch to make a pretty little border to go with this piece of
Nit Wit paper that I have matched up to some lovely blue card.
I coloured the pearls with a copic {sorry can't remember the no}
and was so delighted they were such a perfect match.
A lovely spring card that I think I made when I was wishing the weather
would warm up at the beginning of spring.
We are never satisfied are we?

I wish you all a lovely day.
Christmas seems in a hurry to get here doesn't it?

"STUFF"

I have been trying to tidy up my craft room..... no don't laugh I'm serious.
Oh yes you are right it is never ever going to be tidy.
Anyway I seem to have more bits and pieces that never find homes.
I have not been able to get to any craft shop
let alone my favorite craft shop for over 12 months now
and buying on line is just not my style.  I want to see and to touch things.
So I took a deep breath and rummaged through the pile of
"STUFF"
that I have here waiting to be used and came up with 4 blue card blanks
that I have put to good use with one piece of 6x6 DP.
Apart from the one piece of DP everything else was just hanging
around waiting to be used up.

Here is what I cam up with.

The card blanks were all different shades of blue and the white card
I used for mounting had patches of ink on it which
I was able to hide or cut around.
I would be happier if it had made more of a dent into my piles of
"STUFF"
so that it would warrant my buying more.  Big Sigh!
Just hoping the poinsettia ones will go through the post without getting squashed.
Am sharing these with:

Hope those of you in the North are not too cold.
We are starting to get some rather warmer weather than I like.
I am indoors with the air con on working on my "STUFF".

Have a good day.

The Puddle Duck Vineyard.

Yesterday we had a lovely time here on a glorious day celebrating our expected baby.

LtoR
Me,  Mum to be Meagan,  Daughter Angela gran to be
Younger Daughter Deirdre.
Sorry about the shades but it was to bright to take them off.

The pond with a balcony jutting out over it.There were a lot of
ducks on the pond but they don't show up.
Vines in the background past the trees

Some of the gifts on display.
Even the soap containers in the bathroom were ducks!

An enticement to come again.

It was so hard to take photos as with the sunlight one could not see
just what was in the photo so it was a bit hit and miss.

Now I should include a card in this post but I do not own a stamp with a
duck on it!

Talking to my daughter we asked her what she wanted the new bub to call her
I am Grandma and will stay grandma for any new offspring.
She said as her husband wanted to be Pop she had thought
Lolli would be a good name!!

It is supposed to get to 27 today so I have already been out and shopped
now to stay inside and keep cool.

When it gets over 22 I have had it.

Have a good day.

Pink for a little girl !

The last few days have been beautiful and I took this
Twilight photo the other evening.

I can take any amount of this weather in the low 20's am enjoying
it before it gets any hotter.
Tomorrow is going to be another lovely day because we are going to the
Baby Shower that friends of my Grand daughter - I - L are holding for her.
And yes it is going to be a girl hence the pink.
The first baby in the family for nearly 19 years. Can't wait.

The lovely soft Teddy Mia even has a birth certificate.

I hand cut a pattern for the card and covered it with double sided
wrapping paper, spots one side and plain the other.
Made the scallop pattern with Spellbinders Bracket border
and just a small piece of white satin ribbon to finish it off.

Am sharing this with:

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Falling down on my DT duties.
So without any ado here is my card for this month.

The papers are Maja Design teamed with one of my
favorite LOTV stamps coloured with Faber - Castell
pencil by my daughter.
She colours in to pass the time while she is undergoing treatment.

This has not been a good month in fact this whole year has been
very much up hill.

Am sharing this with  the following challenge.

Spring has not yet sprung!

September was not a month that I care to dwell on as I have had a virus
probably an off shoot of the Flu bug that has laid a lot of Australians low.
My energy levels have been non existent.
Hopefully we will get some better weather soon while those in
the south of the country are having record heat.
down here we are still into winter with a good dump of snow
on the mountain yesterday, thankfully gone this morning.
At least with the weather still being cool we have enjoyed these.

They have lasted longer than normal.

On to brighter things.

I was given a pack of these 3D floral stickers so I hunted through my box
of die cuts "That will do for another project" to find something to
mount them on.  Found more of the mauve card and a piece of
Nit Wit patterned paper such a perfect match and
added a few rhinestones.
A pleasing result.

Our clocks went on over night so we lost an hours sleep.
Think I could do with a NANNA NAP!

Have a great day.

Crafty Hazelnuts Patterned paper challenge time

What a wonderful display of cards you shared with us in August
over 400 lets see if we can top that in September.

Yes time  to show you my design team card.
I found these two rose Stickers/Peeloffs when I was sorting out.
They have been hanging around for years so I thought use them up.
The DP is digital and the embossed card was another scrap.
The blue card 2 different shades were also off cuts so I feel very virtues.
Even if it has made no dent to my pile of bits.
I coloured the roses with my copics.

A better look at the portrait one.
This has lace on it but it is a little hard to see in the photo.

Have a great day.

Marble effect

I had a wonderful time playing with inks and cling film.
It is ages since I did this.
I pulled out some Adirondack pads
Caramel, Denim and Currant.
Cling film and water to spritz.
This was the first with Caramel and Currant.
I spritzed the water onto the cling film and put it on the card and left it to dry

These are with the Caramel and Denim
and I removed the cling film slowly when they were still wet
to get a lovely marble effect.

I used more Caramel on this one and left the Denim patchy but thicker.
But best of all I used up 4 card blanks that have been in my stash
for at least 15 years.  They were a perfect match.

A Simple Christmas card

A simple Christmas card today.  It all started with 2 strips in which
I had cut out  a SW die.  They had laid on my desk for sometime.
I joined them together and trimmed to form a rectangle
and placed a piece of red ribbon between them.
They continued to lay on my desk until I brought out some
red card one day and found that it matched the ribbon.
I have no idea what I was going to do with the red card because
once it connected to the die cut rectangle a new card evolved.

Penny Black Bear

After a few warmer days we woke this morning to
snow right down the mountain and it has been freezing and wet today.
This is what the mountain looked like a few days ago with the sun rising.

Image may contain: sky, cloud, outdoor and nature

This is going to make the card I am about to show you wanting.
However here goes.

I love my Penny Blacks
This I coloured with Faber-Castell pencils.
As I had a few days feeling a bit off colour I watched a few
UTube videos on blending coloured pencils so
decided to try it out although this had been stamped on
XPress Copic card so not the best surface to try it out.

This week there was a memorial service held at the home where DH
was to remember all those who passed away during the last 12 months.
It was a chance to catch up with other relatives that I had known during
the time DH was there and get lots of cuddles from staff I have not seen
for weeks.
Unfortunately this week also brought more health problems for my
youngest daughter.

Floral background

Sorry but not enough light when I took this photo so it looks very pale.
Whilst it is pastel it does have more colour than this.
I stamped a WOW background stamp on Gloss card and
embossed with what I thought was WOW white embossing powder.
It turned out to be Vanilla instead.
Actually I am quite pleased with the result.
I then sponged with DI, Warn Lipstick, Faded Jeans and Squeezed Lemonade.
The flowers I made with the smallest Retro flower punch
and added a small piece of SW Ivy.

Beccy's Snowman

Another beautiful day in paradise but you should have seen
the frost we had this morning.
Being near the beach we do not as a rule have many frosts
but this winter has been the exception.
However a frost does mean a sunny day even
if it will only be about 12 degrees.
Possibly 15 to 16 outside my front door.

Could not resist making another card with this sketch.
Using a coloured version of one of Beccy's snowmen.
Gave him some glittery snow to stand in.
You can just see that I have used
Gold Mirror card as a Matt.
The plaid digi paper I won in a challenge some
good long time ago and I just love it.
Cannot remember the name of the company
but know they have closed down now alas
as it really is lovely.

Am now going to share this with:

Pretty in purple

Whilst we really need some rain the last few days have been brilliant sunshine
lulling us into a false sense of thinking spring is arriving early.
I have no doubt that there is another cold front or too
before spring really arrives.

Well today I have used another Sketch Saturday sketch.
What an array there was to chose from.
I chose no. 322.

I rather fell in love with this sketch and found this topper that
fits the rectangle so well and what a match for the card too.
Hunting in my scraps I came up with the little strip of green and
enough to mount the greeting.
Just think it could do with a longer rectangle but not wider
which was the problem I came up with.
Despite the sunshine it was too cold in my craft room to go hunting
for a different die.
With that I think I am ready to go and have a romp with Parsnip
in the Pixie playground.

A trio of cards

Today I have a trio of cards for the August
Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge.
Come and join us.

I started with a strip of DP and cut it into 3

This piece I cut across to make 2 triangles.
I picked out the blue of the small flowers to cut out a SW die.

A piece of check ribbon and a strip MFT croquet border.

Some silver stickers/ peel offs, oval dies and sequins
and that was that all done.
3 very quick cards.
The single photos did not come out well. Camera's fault.!!

Airing my puches

Yes I brought some punches out today and gave them an airing.
It is a while since I have been over to the Flower Challenge
Too many things been happening in my life this year.
However I have just the card to fit this challenge.

No it is not about to fall over its just the camera's fault it looks that way.
I used Sue Wilson's Bed of Roses EF and sponged the roses.
It is very delicate colouring but if you look carefully you will see
the roses are a very soft lemon.
I had a yellow oval in my bit box so purposely mounted the
sentiment at an angle over it but now I keep wanting to
straighten it.
Then for a change I took out a couple of my punches to make the flowers
from scraps.

I am sharing this with:

Now for some news that I have waited so long to hear.

We wish you a merry Christmas

I love this girl she sings so beautifully and looks so happy doing it.

Sorry the picture is on a bit of a slant it was the way I took it.
There was no sun and the flash kept making everything pink.
Or perhaps it was the lack of photography skills!!

Design Team Post

I am delighted to tell you that I  am now on the Design Team
I have masses of papers and this will be an incentive to use some of it.
I am renown for buying beautiful paper just to look at it.
Then I find some I like better and wonder why I didn't use the first papers.
So it mounts up and some that I am using is years old.
You have a full month to enter and can enter as many times as you like.
So come on use up some of that DP that you have
hidden away in the cupboard and join us.

This paper is years old and I have no idea where it came from.
The flowers are a freebee from Altenew
and the dies are Sue Wilson.

I have to go out but will wait another hour or so or
even leave it till this afternoon.
Roll on spring.

Blue Christmas

Winter has arrived with a frost last night and even though the
sun shone all day we only had 10 degrees.
It has been very mild up till now and the early
Wattle is coming out in bloom about a month early.
The broad beans I planted are coming through much to my delight.
They manage to grow through the cold.

Today I have a Christmas card to show you.

It was getting dark when I took the photo hence it is not very bright.
I stamped up a few Christmas stamps for my daughter to
colour in whilst she is in hospital having treatment.
She has to sit there for 8 to 10 hours so it helps to pass the time for her.

More Mainly Men's cards

I have to make quite a lot of cards for men and
elderly men whose hobbies etc I don't know so tend
to keep them  very plain.
Here are a couple more that you may like to see.

The Sue Wilson banners are just perfect for men I find.

Love the grosgrain ribbon on this one and that
embossing folder, Couture creations Grand Woven is a hit every time.
Must try inking it and see what it comes out like.

Dumbo having a swinging time.

Sunset over Hobart.

It faded so fast that by the time I had rushed to get my camera
the best of it had gone.
There is snow on the mountain as it has been rather cold this last week.
Winter officially starts tomorrow.  Brrrrrrr.......

I have been going through some already stamped images and picked out
this lovely one of Dumbo.
I have used Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Rectangles
and Cheery Lyn Design Happy  Christmas.

I have also used up the last of my gold mirror card.
Good excuse to order some more things from my friends shop.

Christmas Greetings

52 Christmas card Throwdown have a colour challenge
and I thought that I would like to make a card with these colours.

They certainly are different.

but I am quite happy with the result.

It has been a beautiful day here and
I spent a lovely hour having a coffee with my girls
but now it is rapidly turning to dusk.

My Broad Beans are planted and with the showers and mild temps that we
have been having I hope to soon see them popping through.
This is assuming I planted them the right way up!
Ang:   Leave your beans till next year as I hope to  be coming over
around this time.  I want to walk through the Bluebell woods one more time.

Megan: Have been over to look around your blog am tempted to
join google plus so I could leave you some love too.
